Thank You to Marina Scott, CKC Membership Chair

Marina Scott, CKC’s first-ever Membership Chair, is stepping down from the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting in May 2023.  We are extremely sorry that she will be leaving the CKC Board, but we are happy she will have more time to focus on new career opportunities and responsibilities in her professional life as a pediatric occupational therapist.  We share our thanks for her service to CKC, below.

Marina joined CKC’s Board of Directors in 2021.  She has run two highly successful Annual Membership Drives and has done an excellent job professionalizing and personalizing CKC’s Membership experience; we plan to continue her work in this arena.  Marina also serves on CKC’s Nominating Committee, where she will be helping to coordinate the search and review of new CKC Director candidates.

After leaving the Board, Marina will continue to be a CKC Member and volunteer as she has time, and we hope she will also consider returning to a leadership role at CKC when her time permits.  Thank you, Marina!

You can follow Marina Scott in her crafting life! She knits for fun and relaxation and has several published patterns on Ravelry, Etsy, and Loving Crafts. She posts on Instagram (@heartbunknitsandmore) where she created a series called “knitting around the world” featuring pictures of the globally diverse community that is knitters, crocheters, spinners, and weavers. She is also a content associate for the start-up company Making, where she writes blogs on various craft-related topics.

CKC Music | Makers — Deadline Extended to April 30, 2023

CKC Music Makers Call for Music

Don’t forget to share CKC Music | Makers: A Knit Purl Jam & Acoustic Crochet – a contest for musicians to re/interpret historical songs about knitting and crochet that we found in CKC’s Library and Museum Collections.

See the new song just added — “I will Knit a Suit o’ Dreams, 1917, with music by Jerome Kern, arranged by Charles Miller.  Suzann Thompson states that this piece “is just one page, and is perfect for anyone short on time to adapt, record, and submit!”

For ALL the information, including a printable, shareable Call for Musicians, visit our CKC Music | Makers page!

Please share this contest opportunity with musicians and music lovers everywhere!  Submit your “sound legacies” by April 30, 2023!

CKC Music | Makers is designed to showcase the incredible variety of materials related to knitting and crochet in CKC’s growing digital archives, and to engage creative people everywhere in using and sharing these rich, interdisciplinary collections and resources.
