Session 1: Tuesday, August 17, 2021, 7:00 – 8:30 PM Eastern Time
Session 2: Sunday, August 29, 2021, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Eastern Time
Bring your favorite beverage and your vintage WIPs or vintage-inspired projects, and make knitstory along with us!
Share your projects with us on Ravelry, Instagram, and Twitter using the hashtags #ckcvintagemakealong2021, #ckcmysterymags, #vintageknitting, #vintagecrochet, #vintagecrafts.
Find vintage crochet- or knit-spiration in this trove of 1940s patterns courtesy of the Victoria & Albert Museum. If you’re hoping to test knit Princess Diana’s famous Black Sheep Sweater, email mcphillips@centerforknitandcrochet.org for a copy of the pattern. You can also win a vintage pattern magazine to jumpstart your retro crafting — details below!
Win a Vintage Mystery Magazine!
Thanks to a donation from CKC’s President, Jennifer Lindsay, two vintage mystery magazines from CKC’s online fundraiser will be given away to current CKC Members in a random drawing on July 31, 2021, the last day of CKC’s Annual Membership Campaign.
We thank the donors who made these vintage publications available to support CKC!
Celebrate International Lefthanders Day!
Plan ahead for International Lefthanders Day, on August 13! We encourage left-handed knitters and crocheters to celebrate this special day by uploading one (or more!) of your knitted or crocheted projects into CKC’s Crowdsourced Collection. Be sure to tell about your triumphs and tribulations as a left-handed yarn crafter. Click here to find links to information you will need to upload your knitted and crocheted treasures.

Collections Spotlight
New in the Collections Resource
Looking for vintage inspiration for our August “What’s Your Favorite Vintage?” Make-Along? Read the latest blog post about “A’s Coverlet,” which was recently added to our Crowdsourced Collection by new Board member Heather Hernandez, and follow her research journey to discover the free, online patterns and sources for crocheting these delicate Venetian squares.

Spotted in a Local Museum

This collar was among several crocheted items on display at the Mills County Historical Museum in Goldthwaite, Texas. Small-town or rural museums can be good places to find knitted and crocheted artifacts. CKC would love to include these items in our digital Crowdsourced Collection! We are glad to accept each item separately, and we have also developed a method for uploading collections in one fell swoop if you have multiple items you want to add. Either way, we will provide guidance as needed at every step.
