The Center for Knit and Crochet introduced a new and groundbreaking digital collections resource at Vogue Knitting Live in New York in January of 2018.  This innovative system is designed to uncover and share hidden examples of knitting and crochet in both public and private collections.  In the video interview above, created by Kristy Glass of Kristy Glass Knits!, I review how The Center for Knit and Crochet got started, our accomplishments to date, our vision for preserving and promoting the living history of knitting and crochet online, and how you can help us by contributing to CKC’s new digital collections resource.

You can upload and share your own knit and crochet treasures in CKC’s new Crowdsourced Collection right now.  You can also view more than 5000 items already shared by museums, libraries, and other cultural and historical institutions in CKC’s growing Library and Museum Collections.  Most important, by merging these two collections into a new and fully searchable blended resource, The Center for Knit and Crochet is enabling new scholarship and new discoveries that have the power to totally transform our field.

To add to CKC’s Crowdsourced Collection or CKC’s Library and Museum Collections, please see this recent blog post by CKC Secretary and collections “point person,” Cheryl Klimaszewski, or visit our “About” page.  You can also contact Cheryl Klimaszewski directly at [email protected]

Please consider supporting the growth and development of CKC’s new digital collections resource by joining CKC as a member or making a one-time donation in any amount.  We appreciate your contributions and look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions as we strive to improve these resources.
